AREAS IN WHICH YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE:
We need people to share with our participants a variety of daily, common skills. Such topics include: fitness coaches, nutrition guidance, money skills, safety awareness, assisting with arts & crafts, teaching how to sew or knit, cooking skills, computer skills, etc. We are also open to suggestions. We do ask that any volunteers working within this sector of Harbor House make arrangements with the Program Manager ahead of time. Please email
if you are interested in this facet.
Harbor House operates a bulk-mail facility, bringing in customers from all over the region. Our participants actually work on the mail jobs and earn a monthly paycheck. At times, the work load is so demanding, in order to fulfill the customer’s needs and deadlines, we bring in volunteers to help finish the jobs. Examples of volunteer jobs are stuffing envelopes, tabbing, folding, inserting letters, and other work as needed on mail jobs. And we have ALL ages helping in this department. We ask that volunteers be at least in 8th grade for this task.
We have many administrative and clerical needs such as covering the front desk with sign in/out and answering the phone, data entry, filing, and other clerical work as needed. During "duck season," we have need for data entry for duck adoptions.
Harbor House is involved in many special events throughout the year. Our signature event, The Ken-Ducky Derby requires a significant number volunteers for things such as event set-up and breakdown, staffing info and adoption booths, data entry, distribution of promotional materials, clean-up, festival duck sales, and more.
