Happy August everyone! Just when you think this summer can't go any faster, the past month flies by! As mentioned in the previous post, we had some events such as the Harbor House Field Day as well as our Dine to Donate at Le Moo during July. Both were a success!
To kick off the successful Harbor House fun-filled weekend, we had our annual Field Day on July 13th. Throughout the day, participants played kickball and corn hole, had a water balloon toss, ate some yummy burgers and hot dogs and of course, danced. There is no doubt that dancing is their favorite thing to do! Having some extra help from staff and volunteers that day really brought everyone together, showcasing team work and ultimately a fun time. There was not a single face that didn't have a smile on it!
The same weekend on July 15th, we hosted the Dine to Donate event at Le Moo. During this evening, guests came and supported Harbor House by dining at one of the nicest steakhouses in town. Reaching our goal of having over 100 guests support Harbor House, we were able to get 10% of everyone's food, bar and carry out sales donated to us. With that being said, we were able to raise just over $700 from sales in just five hours! But that's not all. We even had a couple generous donations outside of the dinner bill. So in total, we raised approximately $1300 in one evening! How amazing is that?! We are incredibly thankful to everyone who came out to support us that evening and to those who did not know we were hosting this event but chose to donate anyways. It truly was a night to remember and one we are all so thankful for here at Harbor House.
July was also filled with quite a few onsite location promotions at local businesses or fairs! Our Development Team stepped out of the office and promoted Harbor House at the always busy Z Salon, where we were the partnered charity of the month! They also attended a volunteer fair at Equian Insurance Agency and the South Points Buy Local Fair, where at both fairs, people signed up to volunteer with us and gathered more information about who we are, what we do and what they can do for their community!
So it has been quite the busy month for all of us here at the Harbor House. As for our participants, they continue to venture on their field trips, make money with their jobs and enjoy each others' company at the facility. There certainly is no better feeling than having them make you smile.
For the upcoming month, not much is planned here but we always love having volunteers spend the day with our participants. So if that is something you are looking to do, our doors are always open!
Don't forget to give us a "Like" on Facebook and a "Follow" on Instagram! Thanks for putting smiles on our faces. We strive to return the favor to you!
