Harbor House’s main fundraising event is the annual Ken-Ducky Derby! The Ken-Ducky Derby (KDD) is a fundraising rubber duck race held in Louisville, KY, and is an official Kentucky Derby Festival Event. Every year, thousands of rubber ducks are dropped into the Ohio River and race to the finish line. It’s $5 to put a duck in the race. Second and third place ducks go home with cash prizes, and the first place duck wins a brand new vehicle! And every duck in the race has a chance to win ONE MILLION DOLLARS. KDD has been “duckin’ out” Louisville for 15 years!
The best part is that every duck purchase helps Harbor House provide special services and resources for people with disabilities in our community.
KDD helps Harbor House serve 300 individuals with disabilities each year; providing job training and special activities like life skills, money management, social skills, cooking, art, community integration, and so much more.
In 2017, we had a RECORD BREAKING YEAR with duck sales! We sold over 32,000 ducks and raised over $122,000 for Harbor House. Want to learn more about the greatest duck race in Kentucky? Call us today for more information about duck sales, volunteering, sponsorship opportunities, and more!
Bequests allow many individuals to make much larger gift than they could during their lifetimes. This is particularly appealing to donors who want their gift to “amount to something”, but haven’t had the means to make a substantial donation before. It is important to consult legal counsel to maximize the benefits to your estate planning.
